Australian finished Q2 in third position, but was overtaken by Max Verstappen and Nico Hülkenberg
Third row for Sunday! After appearing in P3 at the end of Q2, Daniel Ricciardo will start in fifth place, alongside Racing Point driver Lance Stroll at the 70 year old Formula 1 GP. At the start of qualifying training, the Australian opted to use soft tires - it is worth remembering that for this weekend, Pirelli made softer compounds available compared to those used in the British GP - and with that, finished the Q1 in eleventh place with the time of 1:27:442. In Q2, using the average penus, Ricciardo managed to maintain the good pace shown in free practice and qualified for the last stage in P3, reducing the minute to 1:26:636 behind only Mercedes by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas .
In the last session, already defining the positioning for the starting grid, Renault opted to maintain the strategy and sent Daniel to the track using the medium tires, compounds that he will use at the start of the race on Sunday. Ricciardo was the third to score time in Q3, with 1:26:29, an achievement that placed him in third place provisionally, since, in the sequence, the German Nico Hülkenberg and the Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, overtook him. With that, the top five positions were filled with Valtteri Bottas on pole, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. The grand prix of 70 years of Formula 1 takes place this Sunday, at 10 am (Brasilia), with live transmission from Rede Globo.
